Posthumus Collaboration
Raoul Sentenat, my brother, was an artist in New York City who passed away 8 years ago. He was a prolific artist, writer, and musician. His paintings were inspired in large part by his huge collection of African masks and statues.The pieces I created in this series are based on his "doodles". His small drawings and paintings where he created his faces and his masks. I incorporated objects bought with him at the flea market we frequently went to, in New York City, in order to create these works. For example the big circle is built with toy train tracks that we purchased together which I covered in dry paint and several of his small paintings. The other collage type sculptures also include this type of posthumus collaboration between his works, our found objects, and my work.
